WESTERN REGION RECEIVES FIRST BATCH OF LAPTOPS FOR “ONE MILLION CODERS” INITIATIVE

In line with the government’s commitment to enhancing digital literacy and technology skills among the youth, the Western Region has officially received its first batch of 450 laptops from the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation.

The procurement is part of the nationwide rollout for the flagship “One Million Coders” initiative, a comprehensive program aimed at equipping young Ghanaians with essential digital skills for the modern economy.

The 450 laptops have been officially handed over to Mr. Isaac Quayson, the Western Regional Manager of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC). GIFEC will oversee the immediate distribution of the equipment to the first nine beneficiary districts designated for the initial phase of the training program.

Officials have appealed for calm and patience from the leadership and youth of the remaining districts not covered in this initial allocation. Assurance has been given that subsequent batches of equipment are being processed, and all remaining districts across the region will receive their allocations in due course as the phased rollout progresses.
