The Western Regional Minister joined Karpowership Ghana, the Forestry Commission, and traditional leaders in Essikado to commemorate Green Ghana Day with a tree-planting exercise aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 – Life on Land.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Elikem Kotoko, called for the establishment of forest clubs across Ghana’s seven forest zones to nurture a culture of environmental conservation among the youth.

The tree-planting exercise was undertaken with the support of the Forestry Commission and the President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, demonstrating the strong collaboration between government, traditional authorities, and the private sector in promoting environmental sustainability. The successful observance of Green Ghana Day reinforces the region’s commitment to combating climate change, restoring degraded landscapes, and safeguarding Ghana’s natural heritage for future generations.
