As part of the preparation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2027–2030), the United Nations (UN) is undertaking sub-national consultations with key stakeholders and interlocutors at the regional and district levels.
The consultations seek to engage partners and stakeholders in identifying strategic areas where the UN can strengthen collaboration and support development priorities under the next Cooperation Framework. They also provide an opportunity to discuss specific development needs and priority areas requiring UN support at the regional and district levels. Against this backdrop, heads of departments and other key stakeholders participated in the Western Regional Consultation, held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Residency Conference Room of the Western Regional Coordinating Council.
The consultation provided a platform for stakeholders to share their perspectives and identify key development priorities requiring greater attention and support. Areas discussed included agriculture, sanitation, security, human resource development, youth employment, and other critical sectors that are essential to the socio-economic development of the region.
The inputs and recommendations from the consultation will contribute to shaping the UN’s development cooperation priorities and interventions under the 2027–2030 Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
The consultation was successfully held and provided a fruitful platform for meaningful engagement, collaboration, and the identification of development priorities that reflect the needs and aspirations of the people of the Western Region.
