Subri Forest Reserve Showcases Progress in Ghana’s Forest Restoration Efforts

The Subri River Forest Reserve in the Western Region hosted a high-level stakeholder engagement to mark significant progress under the Ghana Forest Restoration Grant Scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at restoring degraded forest landscapes. The event, organized by the European Union in partnership with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission, formed part of the nationwide “Tree for Life” campaign. It brought together government officials, traditional authorities, local communities, and development partners to celebrate achievements and reaffirm their commitment to sustainable forest restoration.

Building on the success of Green Ghana Day, the initiative places greater emphasis on tree survival, community participation, and long-term environmental sustainability. The Subri River Forest Reserve continues to serve as a model for innovative forest restoration practices with the potential to be replicated across the country.
