WESTERN REGION MINISTER TOURS WASSA AMENFI

Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has embarked on a 2-day working tour in the 3 MMDA’s that make up Wassa Amenfi; Amenfi East Municipal, Amenfi Central District, and the Amenfi West Municipal assemblies.

On the tour, the minister, who doubles as MP for Takoradi engaged with staff of the MMDA’s to explain some policy directions of the governing New Patriotic Party. He used the opportunity to charge members of staff to prioritize service to the people in the various areas they supervise.

He underscored that considering that only a paltry 5% of the adult population gets the opportunity to work in the public sector, it is imperative for this privileged few to facilitate the progress of the private sector. It his firm belief that it is in the growth of the private sector that the nation will see real progress.

Hon. Darko-Mensah commissioned a police station at Wassa Afransie in the Wassa East Municipality. A project funded by the communal contributions by the chief and people of the town, home, and abroad.

In the Wassa Amenfi Central District, Western Regional Minister visited the Manso Amenfi Technical Institute, where he inspected a Boys Domitory, Classroom Blocks and the resourcing of laboratories of the various departments of the institution, including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Fashion Design, among others.

At Wassa Amenfi West, Dr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah commissioned an office complex for the Municipal Education Service, funded by Getfund. He also commissioned a boys dormitory for the Asankragwa Senior High School.

He also took the opportunity to meet with agitated members of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) over the deplorable state of the road from Bawdie to Asankragwa. He assured the Union of the plans of the Akuffo Addo government to get the roads fixed soon.

He wrapped up his tour with an inspection of the almost completed Government Hospital at Wassa Dunkwa in the Amenfi West Municipality.
