The Western Regional Minister joined the Western Regional Health Directorate for its 2025 Annual Performance Review Meeting, held under the theme: “Achieving High Quality Primary Health Care: The Role of All Stakeholders.”
Speaking on the Directorate’s priorities for 2026, the Regional Health Director, Dr. Marion Okoh-Owusu, reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to achieving high-quality primary health care across the region. She acknowledged public concerns regarding the quality of care in some health facilities, particularly during emergencies.
To address these concerns, the Directorate has scheduled a regional dialogue to engage agencies under the Ministry of Health, as well as external stakeholders, to identify and implement measures aimed at improving the quality of primary health care delivery.

In line with the Service’s mandate of ensuring that all communities have access to timely, quality, and comprehensive health care at all levels of service delivery, key priority areas have been outlined for the year ahead.
Central to this vision is the recognition that access to quality health care is essential for promoting and maintaining good health, preventing and managing diseases, reducing avoidable disability and premature death, and achieving health equity across the region.
Among the key focus areas for the coming year is the strengthening of community-centered health interventions, ensuring that services are tailored to meet the specific needs of various communities. Additionally, greater emphasis will be placed on the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in health service delivery. This includes improving staff capacity and ensuring the effective functioning of the Ghana Health Information Management System (GHIMS) across all facilities.
