WESTERN REGIONAL MINISTER ENGAGES GCTU GOVERNING COUNCIL ON PROPOSED TAKORADI CAMPUS RELOCATION

The Western Regional Minister has received the Governing Council of the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), who paid a courtesy visit to explore the possibility of relocating the University’s Takoradi Campus to portions of the Takoradi Monkey Hill.

The proposed relocation seeks to establish a more organised, coordinated and conducive environment to support teaching, learning, research and innovation.

The engagement highlighted the growing importance of technology and digital skills in shaping the future of society, as well as the need to provide institutions responsible for developing the next generation of technology professionals with the necessary space and support to expand their operations.

The Regional Minister expressed openness to the proposal, noting that it presents an opportunity worth exploring in the broader interest of educational advancement and regional development.

A stronger GCTU presence within a well-planned environment could further enhance Takoradi’s position as an emerging centre for technological education and innovation, while creating opportunities for the Western Region to participate more actively in the evolving digital economy.
