President John Dramani Mahama has extended his Thank You Tour to the Western Region, where he addressed a durbar of chiefs and residents in Sekondi-Takoradi. During the event, he announced an upcoming amendment to the Public Holidays Act to reinstate July 1 as a public holiday. The day will be designated as National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day to foster national reflection and gratitude.



Reaffirming his commitment to the people of the Western Region, President Mahama assured the gathering that he would not take their trust for granted. He pledged to work diligently to reset Ghana on a path of progress and stability.



The Omanhen of Esikado, Nana Kobina Nketsia, used the occasion to urge the President to intensify efforts in combating illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey. He assured him of the full support of the region’s chiefs and people in tackling the menace. Additionally, Nana Kobina Nketsia expressed strong backing for the President’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative.



President Mahama also commended health officials for their efforts in containing the cholera outbreak in parts of the region. He advised residents to prioritize hygiene, particularly regarding their sources of drinking water and food, to prevent further spread of the disease.
