Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah has on the 13th of February launched the 2021 District League Table.
The 2021 District League Table Report (DLT) measured the impact of service delivery across Ghana’s 261 districts. The DLT assesses performance across seven sectors of health, nutrition, education, water, sanitation, governance, and energy and 22 indicators with a focus on the survival and development of children.

The selected indicators incorporate both the SDGs and the African Union Agenda 2063 indicators to generate appropriate district-level data and analysis for achieving these global commitments. The DLT, published by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) and sponsors, UNICEF strives to address the disparities at the district level and to advocate for equitable distribution of resources.
The Western Region emerged 2nd in the 7th District League Table, with Tarkwa Nsuaem toping the scores in all sectors.
Delivering the keynote address during the launch, the Minister revealed that the district league table has been helpful in the development of various districts since its inception, the report he explained is exceptional due to its concentration on district-level development and its impact on the distribution of the national cake.
He tasked civil servants to be change bearers in the various MMDAS they have been assigned to.
“…as duty bearers and decision-makers, I believe our utmost goal is to improve the welfare of our people who have entrusted the position to us, so as NDPC presents the result of the 7th league table we should see it as a call to action, and accelerate our efforts in the provision of services to our dear citizens”.
The minister charged the various districts to consider the results as a stepping stone to boost them in delivering services to their district and also improve upon sectors that are yet to match up to standard.

He used the occasion to reiterate the impending launch of the E- TANKASS mobile app, aimed at curbing the sanitation challenges that have bedeviled the region. He also hinted at another initiative to be out doored, being spearheaded by NUPSA dubbed “ofie ne fie”, which is targeted at beautifying the Western Region.
