The Western Regional Coordinating Council under the leadership of Honorable Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah conceived the idea of digitizing the environmental sanitation delivery in the fourteen (14) Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Assemblies (MMDA’s) in the Western Region of Ghana. This led to the development of a mobile and Web application titled, E-Tankas a short form of Electronic Town Council to transform the work of Environmental Health Officers from a manual way of managing and reporting environmental health nuisances in the communities into an electronic platform.

As part of the process to ensure the successful implementation of E-Tankas, the Western Regional Coordinating Council sees the need to involve the community by developing an application that will enable the community members to report nuisances within the communities and get a reward. This will help achieve the purpose of the application.

In this regard, a 2-day training was organized for MIS officers, Account officers, environmental health officers, and information service officers to introduce them to the app and train them on how the application works.
