Western Regional Minister Dr. Kwabena Okyere Darko- Mensah on Tuesday, August 31st met with regional heads of the various state media organizations in the Western Region in his office.

Present at the meeting were the Regional Directors of the Information Services Department, Ghana News Agency, Ghanaian Times, Daily Graphic, and Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

The meeting hovered around sharing ideas on how state media can properly help government disseminate information on how well it is executing its mandate to the people of Ghana while projecting the Western Region to attract investment for the progress of its people.

The heads of the various state media also used the opportunity of the meeting to share some of the challenges their offices encounter, to which he assured to use his office to impress the parent agencies of the media organizations to come to their aid. On others his office can provide, he promised that would be seen to.

While addressing the meeting, Dr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah who also doubles as MP for Takoradi intimated that a section of the state media in the region have done little to fit into the administration’s program, comparing how much is being done and the coverage received. He took the opportunity to outline some of the developmental projects being undertaken across the region.

He encouraged the media to make a conscious effort to promote private businesses in the region, as they are a major stakeholder in the quest to reduce unemployment in the region.

He further assured the press of his administration’s support in the pursuance of the progress of the region they all hold dearly.
