The meeting was declared open by the Chairman, Mr. Frederick Agyemang at 10:15 am. The Chairman welcomed both teams and expressed satisfaction to have a project, this important to benefit the people of the Western Region.
In a presentation by the STRABAG- TEAM WORK, they informed the meeting that a water supply expansion project would be undertaken at Daboase in the Wassa East district of the Western Region. That will be an add-up to the existing transmission line situated at Inchaban.
In the meeting, the following details were presented, the ministry of finance is the borrower, Commerz bank (Germany) and OeKB (Austria) are the Lenders, Ghana Water Company Limited is the Employer, STRABAG AG (Austria) is the Contractor, Richfield & Resources “A” Ltd. (Foreseen partner) is Local Partners/ sub-contractors, Yellow FIDIC 1990 is the Contract type, the Scope will be Intake, river bottom ramp, water treatment plant at Daboase with capacity 100,000m1/d and the Contract timeline is estimated to be 40 months (1,200 days).
In the remarks by various participants at the meeting, the Regional Director of the Ghana Highway Authority indicated that galamsey activities often interrupt works construction on the road, hence he advised the team to ensure the project is free from such barriers. He added that the Consultant and Contractors needed to contact his outfit for assistance on the access design which would be incorporated in the project.
It was indicated by the SAL Consult team that, no forest would be harmed in course of the project, however, a few trees would be pulled down to make way for the project. They promised to contact the Forestry Commission for assistance and advice on the matter.
